The Lexar reader I got today would not see anything. I'm sorry to snap that bubble, but I'm here to tell you your statement of older readers reading both versions of the cards is just horse shite.

Why the reader incompatibility I don't understand either, it's just plain dumb. The Sony XQD/SD reader about to come out (MRWE90/BC1) will read any generatin of XQD card. The current ver2 readers can ONLY read ver2 cards, not ver1 cards.
Does sony xqd card reader need a cable full#
Any camera can read/write any generation of XQD card.Īny of the older XQD ver.1 readers can read both ver1 and the newer ver2 cards (obviously not at full speed). Wrong, the XQD cards themselves are indeed 100% backwards compatible in any of the cameras. You're upset your XQD cards were surpassed by a newer generating while yours were gathering dust not being used? OK.

I've had a Sony XQD card go bad (replaced within a week by them) but never had a reader go bad. While it stinks you had the readers die on you, why were you totally stuck on site? Why didn't you transfer directly from the camera using the cable? Slower, but workable in a pinch. i have 4 readers that were included with the g cards and the newer modular XQD 2 Lexar reader. all my readers fully function with the 6 cards i own and use.
Does sony xqd card reader need a cable series#
G series Sony cards (4) and have recently purchased (2) 2933x Lexar cards. it is at point i i have yet to have a failure of any of them. I have been using XQD 2 cards since they came out along side the D4s. In addition i have a Lexar XQD 1 reader that reads all my combined XQD 2 cards just at a slower speed. If i correctly recalled, only the last version of sony reader (before g version, can be upgraded to read the g version 1 & 2(?). so the incompatibility is apparently in the card reader but not in the camera, b/c the camera can receive fw updates. However, sony xqd g-series ver 2 works in the d4, which also runs earlier versions of xqd. Not sure which ver of the sony xqd is equivalent to the lexar 1333x, though. Sony website provides compatibility info on their versions of xqd cards. It's like a half-time over-write or an accidental format. You don''t want to be at the venue trying to satisfy editors and workflow and hit this type of unrecoverable wall. IF have new cards I guess your okay moving forward. Lexar does NOT stock or MAKE or replace these readers anymore.period. IF you have all older cards and need a reader replacement? Look for older Sony readers. Those are XQD 2.0 which are 100% NOT backwards compatible with the original XQD cards made when we were using D4/D4s bodies. Look for the USB label on your cards (if there). SO, the lesson learned here is a few fold. The don't have a small USB symbol on the label making the 1st Gen and not XQD 2.0 which are the only readers sold now ! ManOMan, if your tired of reading - just imagine. The dam cards I have that top out at 1333X are not the newest latest and greatest. I work everyday, I have back up, but 4 weeks for a solution? Jesus H ! I called into Lexar the next day only to be told 'so what?' more or less. I was really pissed off not able to upload to the server from Photo Mechanic. So I'm on a venue sight when this takes place and the entire wad of shite hit the bin.

3 weeks into it, the rear jack on the reader threw a shoe and would not allow the cord to be placed into it. I ended up up finding an exact replacement in town here and I was off and running again. About 2 months ago, I decided during the slower months of Feb - May I would start to work these into the mix. I always stayed with using the CF for packing reasons, reading at the venue reasons, and simple workflow. I also had the CF looking reader without owning the actual hub. Along with that I got a small XQD reader also from Lexar that was made to fit into a hub arrangement. So here a little Top Gear - Top Tip for some of you that may be not constant readers of these internets.Ī while back I got 6 Lexar 64GB XQD 1333X cards.
